Ayurveda & Yoga

Ayurveda and Yoga are ancient Indian sciences dating back to the Upanishads, written between 1000-5000 BC. They have been practiced for thousands of years in the land for the healing of body, mind, and consciousness. However, while Ayurveda deals more with the health of the body, yoga deals with purifying the mind and consciousness, but in actual practice, they complement one other.
The ancient rishis (seers) were the original masters of Indian sciences. They considered good health as an essential asset on the path toward self-realization and god-realization.
• Both Ayurveda and Yoga offer many ways to prevent and heal various disorders as well as to cleanse and rejuvenate the body.
• Besides sharing a philosophical foundation, both systems have many similarities in relation to attitude, nutrition, diet, hygiene, exercise, cleansing practices, as well as spiritual practices.
• Both recognize that keeping the body healthy is vital for fulfilling the four aims of life: Dharma (duty), Artha (wealth), Kama (desire), and Moksha (liberation).
• Both recognize that the balance of doshas (humors), dhatus (tissues), and malas (waste products) is essential for maintaining good health.
• Both share virtually the same metaphysical anatomy and physiology, which consists of 72,000 nadis (subtle channels), 7 main chakras (energy centers), 5 bodily sheaths, and the Kundalini Shakti (energy).
• Both advocate the use of diet, herbs, asana, pranayama, meditation, mantra, astrology, prayer, puja, and rituals for healing the entire being.
• Both encourage physical health as a good foundation for mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being.

Ayurveda - natures cure

Ayurveda is India’s traditional, natural system of medicine that has been practiced for more than 5,000 years. Ayurveda in Sanskrit literally means "science of life" or "practices of longevity." Ayurveda was the system of health care conceived and developed by the seers (rishis) and natural scientists through centuries of observations, experiments, discussions, and meditations.

For several thousand years their teachings were passed on orally from teacher to student; about the fifth to sixth century BC, elaborately detailed texts were written in Sanskrit, the ancient language of India. For many years Ayurveda flourished and was used by rich and poor alike in India and Southeast Asia.
Ayurveda emphasizes prevention of disease, rejuvenation of our body systems, and extension of life span. The profound premise and promise of Ayurveda is that through certain practices, not only can we prevent heart disease and make our headaches go away, but we can also better understand ourselves and the world around us, live a long healthy life in balance and harmony, achieve our fullest potential, and express our true inner nature on a daily basis.
Here is a summary of major beliefs in Ayurveda that pertain to health and disease.
Interconnected
• Ayurveda believes that all things in the universe (both living and nonliving) are joined together.
• Every human being contains elements that can be found in the universe.
• All people are born in a state of balance within themselves and in relation to the universe.
• This state of balance is disrupted by the processes of life. Disruptions can be physical, emotional, spiritual, or a combination. Imbalances weaken the body and make the person susceptible to disease.
• Health will be good if one's interaction with the immediate environment is effective and wholesome.
• Disease arises when a person is out of harmony with the universe.

Get connected

We see only the physical earth. But we know the earth have an atmosphere. When earth rotates this atmosphere is also rotating with it. It is an integral part of earth. This atmosphere is of different layers. Each layer has distinct type of energies. When earth moves, this energy bodies also moves with it. So the earth we call is the physical earth with an energy body of its own.
Like wise we humans and other earth links have physical body and also an energy body with different layers and types of energies. We know we are born on this earth. We are made up of different types of elements found on earth. Thus the source of our body including energy body is the earth along with its atmosphere. If we properly tune ourselves, we can draw energy from earth. To draw energy we should first appreciate it. To appreciate, we should start enjoying the beauty of earth, that is nature.

Look around see the beauty, appreciate it. Look at a flower, absorb its beauty. Appreciate. You may feel the beauty of the flower enhanced! Look at the plants, how the flower integrates with it. Look at other plants, trees, butterflies, birds and squirrels around you. How all these integrate with nature! If you are really tuned you may feel that all these are connected together. You may be able to see that a flow of energy on the background. If you can appreciate it, the love in you blossoms. You may feel your heart is flowing in to these stream of energy and you will also become a part of nature.

You are contributing to the nature as well as you may receive from it. It is in giving that you receive. If you give abundantly you can receive abundantly. If you can really get connected, you may feel boosted up. You can tap energy from nature. You need not tap it from your fellow men. You can tap from the original source, the pure energy required for your happiness and survival.

So get connected to the nature. Nature is my passion.
Good luck.

Prana - The life energy of nature

prana - is that life energy which keeps the body alive & healthy.
Basically there are three major source of prana: solar prana, air prana and ground prana.

Solar prana - is prana from sunlight. It invigorates the whole body and promotes good health. It can be obtained by sunbathing or exposure to sunlight for about 5 to 10 minutes and drinking water that has been exposed to sunlight.

Air prana - Prana contained in the air is called air prana or air vitality globule. Air prana is absorbed by the lungs through breathing. More air prana can be absorbed by the slow rhythmic breathing than by short shallow breathing. We get most of our life energy from the air we breathe. Every living thing depends upon breathing. From the first cry of an infant to the last gasp of a dying man, there is nothing but a series of breaths.

Ground prana - prana contained in the ground is called ground prana or ground vitality globules. This is absorbed through the soles of the feet. This is done automatically & unconciously. Walking bare foot increases the ground prana absorbed by the body.

Water absorbes prana from sunlight, air and ground that it comes in contact with. Plants and trees absorb prana from sunlight, air , water ang ground. Men and animals obtain prana from sunlight , air, water, ground and food. Fresh food contains more prana than preserved food.

Certain trees, such as pine trees or old and gigantic healthy trees, exude a lot of excess prana. Tired or sick people benefit much by lying down or resting underneath these trees.
it is observed that there is more prana during the day than the night.

So Take a morning walk, breathe easy, Drink plenty of water, relax under a big healthy tree and watch the birds and squirrels for some time. Be healthy and happy always help you lead a good long life.

The Himalayas

I am always fascinated by beauty of The Great Himalayas. I like to read about it. Its mysterious unknown depths& heights thrills me. The myth-stories of "Yathi"-The snowman, above 2000 years old sages, the forest of flowers which spreads the fragrance of sleep...and so many fascinates me. In my wild dreams I visit "Kailasa"- Heaven of Lord Siva&Parvathy, Manasa sarovar - where devine swans live, who drinks only milk.

In 2002 september I got the opportunity to visit 'Kulu-Manali', one of the best tourist spot in India. The view of the Himalaya moutain peaks in the morning sunrise time- so fantastic ,covered by goldenrays the peaks look like mounts of gold and silver.
The serene calm devine peaks of Himalayas produce unconditional love towards nature.
